Pusong Bato

Akala ko natagpuan ko na,
Pag-ibig na inaasam-asam;
Akala ko na nakamit ko na,
Pagsintang walang agam-agam.

Ngunit bakit kung kailan panatag na,
Ay saka biglang nag-iba;
Ang noo'y masayang pagsasama,
Tila nahaluan ng pagdududa.

Puso ko'y nagdurugo,
Katawan ay nanlulumo;
Damdamin ay nabilanggo,
Bakit ako'y ipinagkanulo.

Hanggan kailan magtitiis?
Ito ang nais na mabatid;
Hanggang kailan tatangis?
Upang pasakit ay mapatid.

Panahon na para sumuko,
Sa puso kong pagod ay payo;
Sadyang may mga bagay sa mundo,
Na hindi nararapat sayo.

Paalam na mahal ko,
Ayoko ng magpakagago;
Sa taong di marunong magpakatotoo,
Pagkat puso nya'y tunay ngang sintigas ng bato!

Renee Joy's Valedictory Speech

valedictory speech-valedictorian
My Valedictorian

Classmates, Fellow Graduates, we did it!

Whatever achievements I have right now, I owe it to them. Mama, Papa, thank you for always supporting me, for always being there for me and for always giving me the much needed push whenever I am doubting my skills and capabilities. Thank you for believing in me. But most of all, thank you so much for loving me, unconditionally. I love you both.

To my Lola Ella, thank you also for all the love and encouragement.

Sa aking Lolo August, salamat sa pang-aalaska. Haha! I know naman that behind all those teasings lies your sincere support for me. Next school year ulit ha! J

To my Lola Paz, you might not be here with us now, still I want to thank you for everything that you have done for me, for us.  I know that you are still guiding us from up there, and for that, I thank you so much.

And to my sister, all my titos and titas, thank you also for supporting me in whatever means that you all can.

I will forever hold all of you dear in my heart!

Joining that pageant is definitely one important milestone in my life. Who would have thought na beauty queen material pala ako?! Hahaha Kidding aside, thank you po talaga dahil joining that pageant really boosted my confidence even more. I was able to somehow overcome my shyness, and for that I am already a winner, even without the crown! Next year, bawi po ang Spark! J

Last but definitely not the least, to all my classmates and friends, thank you for everything! Thank you for all the memories that we shared. So much for the drama, instead, let us all be happy dahil sa wakas, nagbunga na ang lahat ng ating pagsisikap! Graduate na tayo! Palakpakan natin ang ating mga sarili for a job well done! We all deserve it!

And with this, I would like to end my speech with this famous quote by Confucius, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with but a single step." Malaki o maliit man, di na mahalaga. What is important is for us to continue moving forward. So let us now start making that another step in our lives.

Congratulations Class of 2017! Mabuhay tayong lahat!

Mailap na Pangarap

Sa lamig ng gabi,
Muli akong nagmuni-muni;
Tungkol sa mga bagay-bagay,
At pangyayari sa buhay.

Mahirap man aminin,
Di ko masalamin;
Mga pangarap kong mithi,
Hindi pa rin ngumingiti.

Bakit kay ilap,
Katuparan ng pangarap;
Sadya bang wala ng wakas,
Ang pagiging panakip-butas!

Mahal Pala Kita

Mahal Pala Kita

Tayo'y magkababata't,
Malapit sa isa't isa;
Kalungkuta'y 'di alintana,
Basta't tayo'y magkasama.

At dumating na nga ang araw,
Nang pagdadalaga't pagbibinata;
Ngunit samahan natin,
Nanatiling maganda.

Closeness nati'y mas yumabong,
Sa bawat araw na sa ati'y sumalubong;
At kahit magkalayo tayo,
Handa pa ring magbigay-payo.

Sa lahat ng ito,
Hindi ko man lang napagtanto;
Lihim ka pa lang umiibig,
Sa akin, kaibigan ko!

Sayo ako'y nagalit,
Samaha'y ipinagpalit;
Sa barkadang sa akin,
Ay nagdulot ng pasakit.

Ngayon, hanap-hanap ka,
Ngunit di kita makita;
Kaya ngayon alam ko na,
Mahal pala kita!

The Sad Reality

I admit I have my own flaws, a lot actually! But I don't think these flaws should prevent me from having my opinion on things - from standing firm on what I believe in. I have always been like this. It is definitely not in my character to just go with the flow, to be where everybody is, if it is against my belief. That is just so not me!

Recent turn of events put me in this state right now. Right versus wrong. I chose to stand firm on my belief, thus, somehow alienating me from people whom I considered as family. Is it all worth it? I can only hope.

My mind and my heart just cannot accept the reality that I was confronted with - that one can never be assured of anything! That the only thing that is permanent on this world is CHANGE! All efforts, all the time, money and love you give and invested can just be forgotten in just a snap of a finger! Sad but true.

And the reason?! Because they have found someone new. Someone who is more accessible. Someone who is much more convenient! And because of that convenience, people just chose to eat their words, forget about their earlier principles and just welcome the change with open arms! How easily they have adjusted!  How I wish I can be just like them, can easily change mascara whenever needed. But I am not like them.

But, who's really to blame? The forgotten one? For not being able to sustain his worth?! Or that somebody new who's doing everything in  his power to fit in, to be accepted?! Or that very insecure person who cannot just be contented?! That one person who's always on the lookout in finding someone better, despite knowing that he will be hurting someone in the process?! Or is it the people surrounding all of them?! For not being responsible  enough to try to explain and make sense of what is really happening and the consequences all these things will bring?! But, how can they be blamed when they were just clinging on the knife's edge, as brought about their current circumstances?! Though I believe that still, we all have our choices! We still have the last say in everything! Or maybe, they simply do not care as long as it proved to be advantageous on their part! Or is it just me?! For emphatizing too much! For trying to believe in the word "Fairness" and for hoping that I can make them realize the worth and sacrifices of that someone who was already forgotten... For believing in the fact that wrong doings are meant to be corrected ,not tolerated! Maybe it's really me. Maybe I am still living in a world of make-believe! Believing so much in HONESTY, LOVE & FOREVER! I guess these words really are very rare nowadays. I can only hope it can still be true to me! Maybe.

I know it is not right to expect people to return every favor you will give, but a little acknowledgment and respect will never hurt... Or do they?!

One thing is for sure though, one is only as good as his last performance! All your past actions and good deeds won't  mean anything much anymore come evaluation day!

And this kept me thinking, should I still continue? Should I stay? Or should I just walk away - fearing that all my efforts may likewise be put to waste. Afraid of being forgotten as well!

:(

Alak

One morning, while I am in transit going to work, ideas just kept coming into my mind. And as I know that if I let that chance pass again, I won't be able to remember anything anymore of those ideas. So I risked my phone and started typing. And here is the by-product - a poem! :) A Tagalog poem entitled "Alak".

I know there will be someone out there who can relate to this too! :)

Youth, The Gift of Hope

"Ang Kabataan ang Pag-asa ng Bayan!" I still have faith in this belief of our National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. I still believe that our youth today can still help us realize the dreams that we have for our country - a better Philippines!

But, with what's happening to our country now, wherein more and more of our countrymen are experiencing hardship and are really struggling just to survive, I can't really blame those who are already losing hope.

So if there is one gift that I would like to give our country, it is the gift of HOPE.

That as long as there are younger generations, HOPE can and will still be within our reach!

My work as a Court Interpreter in a family court exposes me to the reality of life. And it really saddens me to know and witness the gravity of offenses and crimes that our youth are now getting theirselves involve with. Gone is the innocence that used to distinguish the young ones from adult...

With this reality, how do we still achieve our dreams for a better Philippines?

I still believe that we can still do something, if work hand in hand, now!

Education. I still believe that this still remains the greatest tool that every person should have. This will guide them to distinguish good from bad.

But, what do we do with the youth which are already involve in crimes - referred to us Child in Conflict with the Law (CICL)?

As of today, there are organizations that takes care of the CICLs. Some are under the Department of Social Welfare & Development and there are likewise from the private sectors. The National Training School for Boys & The Marillac Hills are just some of these organizations. They provide life to every CICL after they were sentence for the crimes they've committed, in preparation for the time when they will be getting out the institution...

But, unfortunately, these agencies are no longer sufficient to provide the needs of every CICL due to insufficient budget & manpower.

And so in order to revive HOPE, I really wish I can give the Phillippines shelters and institutions to cater the CICLs so that each will be ready when they finally get out of the shelter and mingle with the society again. And hopefully, they can be more productive citizens, thus, finally realizing the hopes and dreams, not only of Dr. Jose Rizal, but of all of us Filipinos!

How about you? What gift can you give the Philippines?! #GLOBEProjectWonderful2014

Ang Pera na Hindi Bitin

I just finished reading Ardy O. Roberto, Jr.'s Ang Pera na Hindi Bitin today and I might say that not only did I learn a lot from the book, I was very much entertained as well. The author used a mixture of English and Tagalog language as his medium. It is in a very conversational manner, so there is absolutely no reason that a reader can get bored reading this book.

I likewise find it very interesting how he was able to blend all his concepts and strategies on how to never get short of money with that teachings of the Bible.

Another plus factor of this book is its pricing. It is very much affordable, and yet very educational still. Thus, making this book accessible even for the low-income generating individual - giving everyone a chance to change and enhance both  their financial & spiritual status.

So if you are looking for ways to improve your life and attain financial stability, go grab this book now! :)

Filipino Movies - Level Up!

I really love watching movies - foreign movies, that is! But that was before.

Before, I have this thinking that local movies are just meant to be viewed on TV and/or DVD because I find it a waste of time and money to watch them on the big screen.

But, just like what I have said, that was before...

Now, I am just so proud how our local film industry have improved and how it has become very competitive!

For almost two years now, I've been watching local films on the big screen. Some of the films I've really enjoyed watching were as follows:

No Other Woman. This movie really created a big noise not only to the ordinary viewers, but even with the elite! I've watched this together with my hubby , and we both appreciated it. This film also enabled us to talk about this topic and voice out our opinions on the same issue tackled on the film.

One More Try. I watched this together with my sister-in-laws. This is another big move from the film industry. This movie proved that the local audience is now mature and more than ready to tackle serious and complicated issues in the open. The actors really gave justice to their respective roles.

It Takes a Man and a Woman. Although I have watched all previous sequels of this Sarah-John Lloyd tandem, this is the only  installment  that I've watched on the big screen. This movie really created a great hype in the local film industry. This film is like a magical one- it makes you dream and believe in Forever once more. Personally, this film made me want to have a second wedding (still, with my husband, of course!).

And just last night, I was able to watch the 1st 20th Anniversary offering of Star Cinema, Four Sisters and a Wedding! And I might say, the people in our local film industry did it again! The movie was able to capture the heart of each viewers as everyone can somehow relate to any of the characters of the film. The film was really able to mirror the reality that is happening in most of the Filipino family. I laughed and cried in this film! Love it!

I am really happy that our local film industry have already leveled up. And I am sure that there will be more to come!

One thing I've noticed though, all these films were all produced by Star Cinema, with the other two being co-produced by Viva Films. So I guess that this just shows that if you like watch quality films, just look out for movies that are released by these two great outfits! :)
